LANCERS OF THE LINE BELT, model of October 7, 1845 revised by the regulation of December 20, 1858, Second Empire. 27059-2

In plain white buffalo leather without any edging or stitching, it consists of a belt band, 6 cm wide; length for the 3rd size is 86 cm. The ends are cut in a square shape. The front end, on the strong side of the buffalo leather, is doubled through the opening of a copper buckle, where it is secured by a square bar (called a movable lock) on the buckle, allowing the belt band to be lengthened or shortened at will, without any buckle, through the sole pressure of the lock. The end of the band is folded over by about 2.5 cm. The other end of the band is also doubled through the loop of the belt plate. Near the front end at 19 cm (3rd size), there is a first loop of 4 cm in width and occupying the entire width of the band, inside of which it is sewn by two seams at the top and two at the bottom, a second loop is sewn at 28 cm with a width of 4 cm. It supports the copper "D" which carries the front suspension loop; it is folded underneath by 7 cm after embracing the "D" which, in its upper part, aligns with the bottom of the band. This "D" has a width of 5 cm and a height of 2 cm. It is approximately 5 mm thick and carries a saber hook of the same brass wire. The length of the hook's shank is 4 cm, and the length of the beak is 5 cm. The small suspension loop has a length of 26.5 cm, a width of 2.5 cm, and is numbered "1276" and later renumbered "6427". The large suspension loop has a length of 66.5 cm and a width of 3 cm. At each end, they have two buttonholes 5 cm apart. Copper double buttons (Ø 1.5 cm) are inserted in pairs into these buttonholes to fasten the suspension loops to the belt and the sword.

The slightly curved copper plate, with rounded angles, is embossed in relief with four crossed lances. It is almost square, with cut corners and chamfered edges. Near its right edge, when viewed from the inside, a sturdy copper loop is soldered, and on the other side, a clasp is attached at its base. This clasp covers the full length of the clasp "D" fixed to the other end of the band. Height 7 cm, width with the curve 9 cm, without the curve 8 cm.
