Brass hilt. Guard with three branches, main branch numbered "1439", stamped with "8" and another illegible stamp. Cap with a short tail. Handle of black waxed veal leather wrapped around wood, with filigree brass. Curved blade with hollow bevels, length of 91.5 cm, flat back with signature "Mre Impale de Châtt juillet 1858 = cavrie bre mle 1822", heel stamped with "M" under a crown in an oval of director J.B.M.L.A. de Mecquenem, from July 1855 to August 1859, "S" under a star of 2nd class controller F.A. Schütz, February 1854 to June 1872, and "B" under a star of 1st class controller J.A. Bisch, February 1844 to January 1861. Natural buffalo tie. Steel scabbard with two identical suspension rings, also numbered.
