Brass hilt. Four-branch guard, main branch marked "711", stamped "F" in an oval "F" in an oval of director Durousseau de Fayolle, September 1862 to March 1873, "6" in an oval, "B" in a circle of second class controller G. Bisch, April 1845 to April 1864. Short-tailed cap. Wooden handle covered in black waxed calf leather with brass filigree. Straight blade with hollow edges 97.5 cm long, signed on the back "Mre Impale de Chât août 1863 = dragon model 1854". Natural buff leather knot. Iron scabbard with two belt rings, similarly marked to the hilt.
