Solid gilt bronze hilt. Single-branch guard. Straight quillon. Upper part (cap) in the shape of a lion's head. Octagonal handle. Slightly curved blade, with hollow flutes, length 72.7 cm, engraved on its first third with a radiant sun, a republic, and floral decorations. Heel engraved on each side with a trophy of arms on a gold background. Scarlet cloth knot. Black varnished leather scabbard with a gilt brass chape with scalloped edges decorated with lines, chape mouth with a protruding molding. Brass-tip of the scabbard decorated with lines and scalloped edge, brass blade tip.

Good condition, hilt and chape retaining some of their gilding, light oxidation on the blade from use, scabbard tip dating from the Restoration period.
