COMMANDER'S INSIGNIA OF THE LEGION OF HONOR, jeweler's model in silver-gilt, 1946-1958, Fourth Republic. 26418
Exceptional quality silver-gilt jeweler's model. Star with five double white enameled rays with buttoned tips in gilded metal, diameter 6.4 cm. Surrounded by a vegetal crown formed by branches of oak and laurel leaves linked between the lower points, enhanced with translucent green enamel, height 3.2 cm, width 3.1 cm. Center in two parts, obverse side featuring the effigy of the Republic with head turned to the left on a sanded background, bordered by a deep blue enameled band with the legend "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE". Reverse side with two crossed French tricolor enameled flags, bordered by a blue band with the motto "HONNEUR ET PATRIE".
Bail made of a crown of two branches of oak and laurel leaves, connected by links. Insignia and bail both hallmarked.
Scarlet ribbon.
Presented in a scarlet morocco case from Maison Servan, a jeweler and silversmith in Bordeaux, with ivory velvet and silk interior. Gilded lid with the inscription "LES HUISSIERS DE LA GIRONDE / EN HOMMAGE AU MÉRITE / DE LEUR CONFRÈRE / ME ROBERT SAINT-BONNET".
