KNIGHT'S CROSS OF THE LEGION OF HONOR, 1852-1871, Second Empire. 26421
Silver and enamel star with five double-pointed rays, enameled in white, framed by a branch of oak and laurel leaves enameled in light green. Obverse center in gold featuring the profile effigy of Emperor Napoleon I, facing left, on a background of a radiant sun, bordered by a blue enamel listel with the inscription in gold letters "NAPOLÉON EMPEREUR DES FRANÇAIS". Reverse center presenting the imperial eagle facing left, right wing passing behind its breast, on an azure field, bordered by a blue listel carrying the inscription "HONNEUR ET PATRIE".
Bail in the shape of a crown with eight beaded arches decorated with eagles, topped with an orb with a cross, independent and movable, orb pierced by a smooth suspension ring. The crown has a hook inside to be passed through the suspension ball of the easel located between the two upper branches of the cross.
Total height with bail 6.1 cm; diameter 4.1 cm.
