A jeweler's example in sterling silver of very high quality. Star with five double white enameled rays with buttoned tips in gilded metal, diameter 4.1 cm. Surrounded by a vegetal wreath formed by a branch of oak and laurel leaves linked between the lower tips, enhanced with translucent green enamel. Center in two parts, obverse side featuring the effigy of the Republic with its head turned to the left on a sandblasted background, bordered by a deep blue enameled rim with the legend "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE – 1870." Reverse side with two crossed French tricolor enameled flags, bordered by a blue rim with the motto "HONNEUR ET PATRIE."

Suspension ring made of a crown of two branches of oak and laurel leaves, connected by links. Both jewel and suspension ring are hallmarked, H 1.9 cm, W 2.4 cm.
Total height 6.3 cm.
Scarlet ribbon with rosette.
