Silver-star, with five double rays with pommeled tips, enameled in white, framed by a branch of oak and laurel leaves enameled in light green. Obverse center in gold depicting the profile effigy of the Republic facing left, bordered by a blue enamel listel with the inscription in gold letters "FRENCH REPUBLIC 1870". Reverse center showing two crossed tricolor enameled flags, bordered by a blue listel bearing the inscription "HONOR AND COUNTRY".
Bail in the form of a branch of laurel and oak leaves enameled in green, independent and surmounted by a small ball passing through the suspension ring.
Scarlet silk ribbon.
Total height with bail 5.8 cm, diameter 3.9 cm.
