FIREFIGHTER HELMET OF THE DMC (DOLLFUS-MIEG COMPANY) SOCIETY, type 1885, Third Republic. 24518
Helmet entirely made of brass. Crest with prominent moldings, secured by eight screws, decorated at the front with a grenade framed in flames with a hole for the attachment of a frontal lamp. Front plate made of stamped and cut brass bearing the initials "DMC." Visor and neck guard welded at the bottom, folded over themselves to form a rim. Tube-shaped plume holder slightly tapering downwards. Black leather chin strap.

Very good condition, chin strap broken at the end, missing the inner liner.

Dollfus-Mieg and Company (abbreviated as DMC) is a French textile company founded in Mulhouse in 1746 by Jean-Henri Dollfus. It became one of the largest European textile and industrial groups in the 20th century. Its owners were clients and shareholders of the coal mines in Ronchamp.
Listed on the Paris Stock Exchange since 1922, it merged with the Lille-based company Thiriez and Cartier-Bresson in 1961. After going through a crisis in the 1990s, the original company was liquidated in 2009. A new entity was created in 2019.
