BRUNEL Alexandre Louis Joseph, residing in Sus Saint Léger, residing in Sus Saint Léger, arrondissement of St Pol (Pas de Calais), humbly begs His Majesty Napoleon (III?) to grant him a complementary pension to the 100 francs he already receives but which is insufficient. He requests to be lifted from the great misery he is beginning to fall into.
The aforementioned served in the campaigns of 1808, with the Grande Armée in Prussia, in 1809, 1810, and 1812 in the armies of Spain and Portugal, totaling 9 years, 8 months, and 17 days. He was wounded by a gunshot in an engagement against the Spanish insurgents, an injury that never fully healed.
At the end of the letter, the mayor of Sus Saint Léger certifies that Mr. Brunel is in a precarious position, deserving of an increase as a brave soldier, and personally beseeches His Excellency.
