IMPERIAL GUARD INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD, 1860 model, Second Empire, 26869
Gilded bronze hilt. Guard decorated with an "N" under an imperial crown set against a radiant background with a sparkling Jupiter's spindle. Guard forming a molded relief plate of the Grand Imperial Weapons, decorated quillon with a palmette, folding backstrap bearing the inscription "IMPERIAL GUARD" in relief set on a branch of oak and laurel. Pommel decorated with the imperial eagle with outstretched wings. Horn grip, brass filigree. Strong triangular white blade, engraved at the base with "Creuzé Entrepreneur à Châtellerault", length 80.2 cm. Scarlet cloth knot. Black varnished leather scabbard with two brass fittings decorated with lines.
Officer's sword knot, black silk cord, gold thread tassel with soft fringes known as "well ropes".

Good condition, gilding in very good condition, push button on the folding backstrap damaged, blade with oxidation spots, scabbard leather intact but split in two.
