LIGHT CAVALRY OFFICER'S SABER, Directoire - Consulate style, composite 19th-20th century. 30103

Gilded brass hilt with a single branch guard. Short-tailed pommel with scalloped edges. Grey shagreen-wrapped wooden grip with silver wire filigree. Curved, flat blade with a ribbed back, Damascus steel, engraved and gilded with a trophy of arms on one side and musical instruments on the other, 88 cm long. Scarlet wool knot. Entirely brass scabbard, engraved with spiderwebs and laurel branches at the suspension rings, with a steel chape.
