Guard entirely in pitch-black iron, solid shell made of steel sheet, with illegible inspection stamp covered by paint. Pommel and handle in octagonal-cut wood covered with sheet metal.
Slightly curved blade with hollow sides, engraved with a marine anchor on each side, and signed on the back "Manufre Rle de Chatellerault August 1842", length 67.5 cm. Scarlet wool knot. Glossy black leather scabbard with two brass fittings.
