AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED HUMBERT ADDRESSED TO GENERAL SACKEN, governor of Paris, reporting organized looting by troops on his estate in Sarcelles, April 1814, 18906-39
General Humbert reports the looting of his own estate by troops and requests reparations.
"To His Excellency General Sacken, Governor of Paris"
"The tutelary and divine presence of His Majesty the Emperor of All the Russias in this capital leaves in every heart only one sentiment, that of admiration, and in every mouth only one voice, that of blessings... The magnanimous traits that marked the triumphant and liberating march of His Majesty will pass down to posterity [...] but the inhabitants of the environs of Paris have seen their joy disturbed, and expect from the supremely generous character of such a powerful Sovereign some consolation...
His own estate in Sarcelles has suffered looting:
"... I am a father of a very numerous family, I own in Sarcelles near St Denis an estate that I value highly, all my crops, grains, fodder, horses, poultry, furniture, linen, clothing, wines, spirits, everything has been devastated by some troops of the Allied Powers, which could not be restrained by discipline. [...]
I dare to hope from Your Excellency that you will order the examination and report of the deplorable situation in which a hapless and honorable family finds itself [...].
The most humble and obedient servant. Signed Humbert.
Faubourg St Honoré No. 73."

In the battle near Volkovyssk, he defeated a French unit and, pursuing them, crossed into the Duchy of Warsaw. During the Polish campaign, joining forces with Count Mikhail Andreevich Miloradovitch, he took Warsaw and successfully faced Prince Józef Poniatowski. In recognition, he received the Order of St. Alexander Nevsky.
During the German campaign, he joined the Silesian army under Blücher's command; he was promoted to infantry general after the Battle of the Katzbach (August 1813).
