KING'S BODYGUARD HELMET, model 1820, Second Restoration. 30002

Straight helmet composed of two shells adjusted and soldered with tin, in copper plated with burnished silver at the twentieth, pierced with four ventilation holes, base of the helmet protruding to form a gutter. Height of the helmet approximately 10.5 cm. Silversmith hallmark and serial number "45."
Front plate in stamped and gilt brass (matt and burnished), approximately 19 cm in height, approximately 26 cm in width, fixed to the helmet by six gold-headed screws, it is stamped with a radiant sun, the so-called "architectural" design, emerging from a cloud where a ribbon with the motto "NEC PLURIBUS IMPAR" (Superior to all - Louis XIV's motto) is placed, in the center, a brass motif of the sun's face is attached, 4.3 cm in height, 4.3 cm in width. Turban in strong leather covered with black-dyed calfskin, 7.5 cm in height.
Visor 6.5 cm in width and neck guard approximately 5 cm in tin covered with calfskin and encircled by a gilt brass rim folded over the outer edge. Visor lined with green waxed leather, and the neck guard with black waxed leather.
Chinstraps in gilt brass composed of a chin strap in soft leather sheathed in black silk velvet (width 3.9 cm), covered with two chains of interlaced rings (ring diameter 2 cm); and an oval rosette stamped with a lion's head (height 5 cm, width 4.7 cm).
Plume holder in gilt brass of tubular shape with slightly decreasing square section towards the base (height 4.9 cm).
Crest in silver-plated copper (height 11 cm). The mask (width 4.5 cm) and the two fins are embossed with a row of feathers with a row of fleur-de-lis at the base. At the base of the mask, a silver metal hook allows for the attachment of the chinstraps. The base of the fins is folded outwards and cut into scallops, each fin is attached to the helmet by three silver metal conical-headed screws. Mane made of black horsehair mounted on a core with metal wire.
First type interior liner composed of a black leather headband with black canvas upper section.

Restoration (1820-1830).
Very good condition, helmet retaining all of its original silver plating and gilding, velvet of the chinstraps changed at a later date, calfskin headband replaced at a later date, the upper part of the fleur-de-lis on the crest fins was unstamped during the revolution of 1830.
