Round-shaped in silver, depicting on the obverse the effigy of the Emperor crowned with laurel, framed by the legend "NAPOLEON III EMPEROR". On the reverse, the inscription "CAMPAIGN OF ITALY - 1859" surrounding the names of the battles "MONTEBELLO, PALESTRO, TURBIGO, MAGENTA, MARIGNAN, SOLFERINO". Surmounted by an imperial crown. Height 2.65 cm, width 1.5 cm.
Ribbon in silk alternating 6 vertical red stripes and 5 vertical white stripes, bordered by a white edging. Width 1.7 cm.
