Completely woven with gold threads and bullion. The body is woven with a design featuring a geometric motif of lozenges in accordance with the regulations of the 1st Vendémiaire Year XII on dark blue wool fabric. The border consists of three turns, two large and one smaller.

Epaulettes following the 1803 regulations are extremely rare, with only a few known examples for aides-de-camp. Plate No. 5 of the regulations of Vendémiaire Year XII presents officer's aide-de-camp epaulettes with a body entirely decorated with a geometric motif of lozenges.
