CUIRASSIERS OFFICER HELMET, model 1872, modified 1874, Third Republic. 27239-14
Silver metal bomb pierced with three suction cup holes at its top. Visor and neck cover in silver metal bordered with a folded brass bangle astride the outer edges. Crest composed of a mask and two fins, the mask is stamped with a jellyfish head at the top, the fins with a decreasing series of gadroons, they are fixed to the bomb by means of four screws each. Top of the crest garnished with a cover plate embossed with the hair of a jellyfish and a crest ornament composed of a socket and an olive embossed with floral motifs. Mane of black horsehair, length approximately 30 cm. Brass front band stamped with a flaming bomb framed with laurel branches. Brass plume holder with square section decreasing towards the bottom. Chinstraps composed of leather chin straps originally covered with a series of scales of which only the main scale remains on each chin strap. Brass rosettes stamped with laurel leaves attached to the bomb by a screw. Inner headdress in cut leather with seven wolf teeth.

Very poor condition, dents and dings, discolored brass parts, chin straps missing with the exception of the two main scales, mane partly missing, missing the puff from the crest ornament, worn interior cap with accidents and losses.
