POLICE HAT OF DRAGONS OFFICER OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD, model 1854, Second Empire. 28322

In dark green cloth, scarlet piping, braid woven in gilded silver, crest embroidered in gilded silver thread in the shape of a pomegranate. Tassel in gilded silver trimmings.
Body of cap in dark green cloth with corded piping Den trimmings of gilded silver with the exception of the piping highlighting the rank braid which is in scarlet cloth. These pipings come together on the right side to form a point whose apex reaches the bottom of the hat.
Two elliptical-shaped side flaps in dark green cloth bordered on their convex development with gold braid (width 3.2 cm); these two elliptical shaped pieces are sewn to the body of the hat.
On the front, in the curvilinear angle formed by the recess of the two flaps, a bright pomegranate embroidered in gilded silver thread is sewn (H 4 cm, width 2.2 cm).
At the front corner of the crown of the hat, a pompom with a tassel and soft fringes called a well rope is attached.
Interior cover entirely in shiny waxed calfskin, complete with its leather chin guard.
