PAIR OF EPAULETTES AND SWORD KNOT FOR FULL DRESS OF REAR ADMIRAL, Third Republic. 25993
They are embroidered in a pattern of twisted cords and gold sequins. The body is embroidered with a design featuring V-shaped braid sticks bordered by a scalloped edging on black velvet; its shield is adorned with a shield topped with two silvered stars framing a golden brass anchor. The fringes are in thick matte twists. The border consists of three twisted cords: a thick one in matte braid and shiny thread alternately rolled on a cotton core; a second, inner one, in small matte Milanese twist mixed with another simple shiny one; a third, of the same workmanship, is applied below the thick one, at the beginning of the fringe.
1872 uniform button (half-domed, golden with burnished and matte finish, embossed with the arms of general officers, helmet plume atop a shield marked with a star on a background of a bundle of lictor fasces and flags), attached at the top of the epaulette body by a strong clip and placed below, at the corresponding section.
Sword knot entirely in golden trimmings, with fringes known as "spinach seeds", with two silver stars.
