HELMET OF FOOT GENDARMES, model 1912, Third Republic. 28124
Bomb, in one piece, made of sheet brass. It is pierced at the top with three suction cup holes, stamped on the back with the manufacturer “B. FRANCK ET SES FILS / AUBERVILLERS”, “A”, size “57”.
Brass visor with nickel silver band folded astride the outer edge. Green lacquered interior of the visor.
Neck cover identical to the visor.
Nickel silver headband embossed with a flaming grenade surrounded by laurel leaves, adhering to the bomb.
Each chinstrap is made up of 15 nickel silver scales cut alternately with three or two festoons, which decrease in width from the top one, which is 3.4 cm, to the last, which is only 2.1 cm. cm.
The right chin strap is adorned at its end with a small nickel silver buckle. At the end of the left one there is a similar D-shaped buckle in nickel silver trimmed with a counter-strap in black patent calfskin.
The upper scale of each chinstrap is stamped "A", is stamped in relief in one piece at its end with a circular rosette (diameter 4.9 cm) representing a lion's head framed by a triple wand of which the center one is pearled.
The bomb is topped with a reconstituted nickel silver crest composed of two fins and a nickel silver mask.
The fins have the shape of a curvilinear triangle that is convex at its upper part and which connects with the bomb through its concave base forming a scalloped edge.
The fins are decorated with acanthus leaves and palmettes and a molding representing two laurel branches with a palmette in the center; the rim is decorated with water leaves and attached to the bomb using two screws, all stamped in relief.
The mask is stamped with a Medusa head in relief.
Mane of brush cut horsehair dyed black, length 82 cm, H 6 cm. It is mounted on a strong cow leather sole.
Nickel silver pen holder with square section, tubular shape slightly decreasing from the bottom, H 3.4 cm.
Interior trim consisting of a turban and a headdress.
Inner cap in black waxed leather, cut into seven wolf teeth.

Good condition, grain of the leather of the interior cover damaged, chips to the paint of the neck cover, folded neck cover, missing chin strap.
