PAIR OF REAR ADMIRAL EPAULETTES IN THEIR CARRYING CASE, Third Republic. 27610
They are embroidered in a design of twisted tresses and gold sequins. The body is embroidered with a pattern depicting a V-shaped braid surrounded by a scalloped framing rod on black velvet; its emblem is decorated with a shield adorned with two silver stars and a brass anchor. Black velvet lining.
The fringes are made of large matte twists. The outline consists of three turnovers: a large one in matte cord and shiny spun alternately on a cotton core; a second, inner, in small twisted matte Milanese mixed with another simple shiny one; a third, of the same work, is applied below the large one, at the beginning of the fringe.
1872 model uniform button for admirals (half-dome shape, gilt bronze and matte, embossed with the coat of arms of general officers, plumed helmet surmounting a shield topped with a star over a fasces and flags background), attached to the top of the epaulette body with a strong clasp. The whole is brooched on a marine anchor.
