HISTORICAL:
HMS Victory is a British first-rate three-deck ship of the line with three masts and square sails.
It is primarily known as Admiral Nelson's flagship during the Battle of Trafalgar (second flagship of the Navy's staff, overall commander of the Admiralty). He enjoyed a string of victories leading the British fleet between 1778 and 1812.
Launched in 1765 and now preserved in dry dock, it is the oldest intact warship in the world. The American frigate USS Constitution, launched in 1797, is the oldest warship still afloat.
On 21 October 1805, the Battle of Trafalgar saw a decisive British victory over the Franco-Spanish fleet and became one of the most important naval battles in history, both for its historical significance and its impact on the Napoleonic era, as well as for the number of ships involved. Nelson was killed by a French sniper.
