SAINT-LOUIS ORDER, KNIGHT'S CROSS, July Monarchy.
Maltese cross with four double-pointed rays, enamel inlaid, center of branches in gold bordered in white enamel, oblong centers. The obverse features a crowned and armored Saint Louis covered in a blue mantle trimmed with black ermine, holding in his right hand the Crown of Thorns of the Passion and in his left hand a laurel wreath, standing on a green background surrounded by red enamel and bordered by a royal blue banner with the inscription "LUD. M. INS 1693" for Ludovicus Magnus Instituit 1693 (Louis the Great instituted it in 1693). The reverse presents a sword held between two laurel branches forming a crown and connected by a white ribbon on a red enamel background, bordered by a royal blue band with the inscription "BELL. E VIRTUTIS. PRAEM." for Bellicae virtutis praemium (reward for military valor), fluted ring.
