PAIR OF MAJOR GENERAL'S EPAULETS, to the settlement of the 1st Vendemiaire Year XII (September 24, 1803), First Empire. 22658

Embroidered in curls of twists and gold sequins. Body embroidered with a design depicting a V-shaped stick braid, bordered by a scalloped rod on dark blue, almost black woolen cloth; its crest is decorated with a shield embroidered with gadroons and adorned with three stars in thread, cannetilles and sewn silver sequins, diameter 1.4 cm. The outline of this escutcheon is made up of two large rotating ones: one large in matte and shiny spun satin, rolled alternately and the other in the same way but of slightly smaller diameter. Fringes gathered in three rows of large twists called "spinach seeds". Cardboard body lined with almost black dark blue cloth.

Cardboard box covered with ivory paper with dark green border and dark green silk interior lining.

Small bundle of herbs intended to perfume the box and the epaulettes of Indian vetiver, bound at both ends by a rose with an ivory label in black printed paper “VETIVER DES INDES”. Total length of the bundle 19 cm, diameter 6 cm.

Shoulder pads in perfect condition, close to new.
Box in good condition, lid missing a rim on 11.5 cm, some accidents at the corners.
Fragrant herbs in very good condition.

NOTE :
Set leaving the family but not attributed, which has the extremely rare characteristic of still possessing its period scented herbs. It is for my part the only specimen thus known.
