COURT SWORD, Ancient Monarchy, reign of Louis XV, circa 1740-1750.
Gilt bronze hilt entirely decorated in relief with scallop shells, flowers, and corollas. Guard with small rings. Round-shaped pommel. Hinged clamshell guard. Blade decorated on its first third with foliage motifs, featuring on one side the face of the sun surrounded by three stars, and on the other side a crescent moon surrounded by three stars, blade length 78.3 cm.

Very good condition, hilt retaining some of its gilding and beautifully crafted decorations, blade decorations in very good condition, minor oxidations at the base of the blade.
