NAVAL OFFICER'S SWORD, model 1872, Third Republic.
Brass hilt, guard with two branches forming a shell decorated with foliage branches and a naval anchor. Pommel with a long tail, handle made of black horn. Curved blade, length 73.2 cm, with hollow ground and fullers, back signed "Coulaux et Cie Klingenthal". Scarlet cloth knot. Black varnished leather scabbard with three brass fittings, engraved locket with scrolls, adorned with an applied naval anchor and a belt hanger button in the shape of a scallop shell.
