COURT SWORD, reign of Louis XV, Old Monarchy, circa 1750.
Mount entirely in gilded bronze known as the Musketeer style. Guard with a single branch. Pommel, grip, crossguard, double quillon, and clamshell-shaped shell guard decorated with relief motifs of scallop shells, volutes, and winged dragon designs. Blade with two flats, 82 cm long, decorated on its first third with radiant suns, royal crowns, and floral basins. Scarlet cloth knot.

Good condition, the mount retaining much of its gilding, not cleaned; oxidized blade; no scabbard.
NOTE:
Sword based on the fantasy officer cavalry swords from 1750 with the exuberance of the German "rococo" style, likely influenced by the War of the Austrian Succession.
