The wide fullers on each side are engraved with "GARDE IMPÉRIALE" in large cursive letters within a rope cartouche, with anchors and palmettes, a ribbed spine.
The scabbard is wood covered in black waxed leather, with three brass fittings - the chape, central mount, and throat; a brass tip, brass rings. Brass suspension ring staples. The leather scabbard is clearly marked with an anchor above the chape. Total length of the scabbard is 74 cm.
