PAGE SWORD, reign of Louis XIV, Ancient Monarchy, circa 1700.

Hilt entirely in steel marcasite covered with gilt brass riveted nails. One-branch guard. Dove-tailed hilt. Bivalve shell. Oval-shaped pommel. Completely metallic handle. All these polished and burnished marcasite parts are richly covered with gilt nailwork depicting flowers in some areas. Straight blade with grooves, length 72.8 cm. Without scabbard.

Very good condition, one missing nail on the pommel revealing the high-quality assembly method, surface oxidation on the blade.
