COURT SWORD IN MARCASITE STEEL, reign of Louis XVI, Ancien Régime, circa 1780-1785.
Marcasite steel hilt with pierced geometric decoration, with "pas-d'ânes" (donkey step) pattern. Oval guard. Wooden grip entirely silver filigree, consisting of smooth ribbons, twisted ribbons, and threads. Silver braided ferrules. Blade of "colichemarde" type, 84.9 cm long, first third engraved with military trophies and floral designs. Without scabbard.
