NAVAL OFFICER'S SABER, model 1872, Third Republic.
Brass hilt, guard with two branches forming a shell decorated with foliage and a naval anchor. Cap with a long tail, handle made of black horn. Curved blade, length 69.5 cm. Black varnished leather scabbard with three brass fittings, the scabbard throat decorated with an attached naval anchor and with a belt loop button in the shape of a scallop shell.
