OFFICER'S FULL DRESS GIBERNE OF THE IMPERIAL GUARDS OF NAPOLEON III, 1st model 1853, Second Empire.
Leather giberne fully covered with polished morocco leather and green velvet (width 5.5 cm) on its exterior side adorned with a silver trim of the same width in dark green silk passementerie. This giberne is decorated with five silver metal fittings, a rectangular buckle, a loop, a shield-shaped plate, and an oval radiant sun decorated in its center with an uncrowned imperial eagle surmounted by a large crown of the Guides, these last two elements being linked together by two link chains.
Wooden box covered with dark green polished leather lined with green velvet with the two sides in gilded brass framed by an engraved strip.
Box height 6.8 cm, max width 15 cm, min width 14 cm.
Rectangular slightly trapezoidal tab (H 8.7 cm, width at the top 15.8 cm, width at the bottom 16.7 cm) in leather lined with polished green morocco leather, covered with a gilded copper plate edged with a golden brass strip (width 8 mm) embossed with oak leaf branches connected by knotted ribbons. The center is decorated with a radiant sun in silver metal (H 6.8 cm, width 14 cm). Attached to this sun are two gilded brass embellishments: an "N" on a sandblasted background (H 2.2 cm, width 2.2 cm) surmounted by the imperial crown of the Guides (H 5.5 cm, width 6.1 cm).
