CUIRASSIER TROOP HELMET, model 1872 modified 1874, Third Republic.

Helmet entirely made of nickel-plated steel. It consists of:
- Bowl, made of cast and pressed steel nickel-plated, with three rectangular holes at the top. Stamped by the manufacturer "HELBRONNER."
- Visor (width 5 cm) and neck cover bordered with a brass strip 8 mm wide placed on its edges. Underside of visor and neck cover lacquered in green leather.
- Neck cover composed of a circular band welded under the rear edge, with three chrome-plated brass riveted domed screws inside; a second concave band forming a groove, bordered by a copper fitting.
- Brass headband with an embossed flaming grenade surrounded by laurel leaves, attached to the bowl. Its base rests on the visor and its ends are riveted to the bowl.
- Each chinstrap consists of 15 copper scales cut alternately in groups of three or two, attached with flattened wire staples on a leather core lined with black sheepskin. The right chinstrap is embellished with a small copper plate at the end with a copper buckle. The left chinstrap has a similar plate with a copper "D" adorned with a black varnished calf leather chin guard.
- The top scale of each chinstrap is covered by a circular copper rosette with four relief stripes.
- The bowl is topped with a copper crest composed of two fins, a mask, and a cover. The fins are adorned with palmettes and a border of water leaves, all embossed in relief. A tinplate unites the upper edges of the fins and fixes their separation.
- The mask jointing the two fins features a relief head of Medusa. The cover, also embossed, depicts the continuation of Medusa's hair with entwined snakes.
- Black horsehair mane approximately 68 cm long.
- Stamped copper plume holder, 3.5 cm high, forming a socket, fixed obliquely on the bowl, slightly forward of the left chinstrap, through two threaded rods passing through the bowl.
- Interior padding consists of a leather turban and a brown sheepskin coif with eight teeth.
- The crest features a socket and a lens formed by two stamped shells of flowers and palmettes. Attached to the front of the crest supporting a scarlet tuft of horsehair.

Good condition, some oxidation to clean on the crest and chinstraps, the bowl has some oxidation marks on the nickel plating.

Items can be returned within 8 days of receipt. They must be returned by registered mail at the sender's expense, in their original packaging, and in their original condition.
