SWORD OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD SAILORS "MARINS DE LA GARDE", First Empire (1804-1815).
Full brass sabre with a leather scabbard, the model of which was created in 1804 by the swordsmith DUC.
Single-branch guard (H 12.2 cm without quillon), outer ear in the shape of a shield (H 5.45 cm) engraved with an anchor, the guard branch ending in a ball quillon. The knuckle bow is hollowed underneath.
Cap with a short tail (H 8.9 cm).
Wooden handle covered with leather, wrapped with a straight brass wire.
"DUC" hallmarks stamped on the quillon.
Klingenthal blade, 70 cm long, 4.35 cm wide at the heel, 7 cm wide at the arrow, back thickness at the heel approximately 1 cm, with a strong point bevel. The hollow ground sides are engraved on each face with "GARDE IMPÉRIALE" in large cursive letters within a roped cartouche, anchor, and foliage.
Length of the sword alone 85.5 cm.
Wooden scabbard covered in black waxed leather, three brass fittings, chape, central bracelet, shoe tip; brass dart, brass rings. Brass belaying ring pins.
Length of the scabbard alone 72.5 cm.

Perfect condition, very slight oxidation on the blade due to use.
