PAIR OF VICE-ADMIRAL EPAULETTES IN THEIR CARRYING CASE, Third Republic.
They are embroidered with twisted braids and gold sequins. The body is embroidered with a design featuring a V-shaped ribbon with sticks bordered by a scalloped edging on black velvet; its shield is decorated with a shield adorned with three silver stars and a brass anchor. Black velvet lining.
The fringes are made of large matte twists. The outline consists of three turning points: a large one in matte cord and shiny spun thread rolled alternately on a cotton core; a second, inner one, in small matte Milanese twisted, mixed with another simple shiny one; a third, of the same workmanship, is applied below the large one, at the beginning of the fringe.
Uniform button model 1872 for admirals (half-rounded, gilt and matte, relief-stamped with the coats of arms of general officers, plumed helmet surmounting a shield stamped with a star on a background of fasces and flags), fixed at the top of the epaulette body by a strong clasp. All of this is stitched onto a maritime anchor.
The epaulettes are presented in their cardboard carrying case covered in green paper.
