Entirely woven with golden threads and cannetilles. The body is woven with a design depicting a geometric pattern composed of diamonds in accordance with the regulations of 1st Vendémiaire Year XII on dark blue woolen cloth. The outline is made up of three turns, two large and one smaller. Soft twisted fringes, called well ropes

The epaulettes from the 1803 regulations are very rare, we only know of a few examples for aides-de-camp. Plate No. 5 of the Vendemiaire Year XII regulations presents aide-de-camp officer epaulets with a body entirely decorated with geometric diamond decoration.
