SABRE KNOWN AS A "BRIQUET" OF A NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICER OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD TYPE, First Empire. 19211
Guard with one branch in gilded brass. Cap with a short tail, H 6.9 cm. Handle in wood covered with copper filigree calf. Brass ferrule. Curved blade with hollow facets, without any marking or stamp, length 70.5 cm. Scarlet cloth knot. Black varnished leather scabbard with two gilded brass fittings.
France. First Empire.
Medium condition, calf of the handle slightly worn at the ends, blade oxidized, missing gilding on the scabbard tip, leather of the scabbard chipped and worn on the edges. Probably reused by the National Guard.
NOTE:
This saber corresponds to the infantry saber of the Imperial Guard but its gilded fittings and unmarked blade allow us to attribute it to a non-commissioned officer.
