CAVALRY PISTOL PRE-REGULATION SIGNED JOURJON, Circa 1710-1730, Former Monarchy. 19622

Flintlock pistol, composite and restored, walnut stock, octagonal then round barrel with a flat upper side along the entire length up to the missing front sight, only two traces of the attachment points remaining, absence of an astragal mouth reinforcement indicating a relatively later production, flat plate engraved with the Arms entrepreneur "JOURJON," punch featuring a fleur-de-lis staff framed by the letters "B C."
Flat lock and dog with a round body, steel frizzen. Brass trigger guard crafted in the style of the 1700s-1710s. Brass thumbpiece topped with a ducal crown.

Screw on the pommel, as well as the internal screw holding the large spring that articulates the frizzen, are contemporary. Black spots on the steel. In fairly good condition.

Simon JOURJON, entrepreneur of His Majesty's arms, born in Saint Étienne in 1672, died in 1752, at which point his grandson Claude-Simon took over the family business until 1769.
