COURT SWORD, Ancient Monarchy, reign of Louis XV, circa 1740.
Silver-plated metal hilt embellished with gold background bosses. Knuckle bow with scroll and flower motifs. Round pommel decorated with military trophies and musical instruments. Wood grip entirely filigreed in silver. Shell guard with military trophies decoration. Braided silver wire ferrules. Colichemarde blade, length 76.5 cm, engraved on the first third with geometric patterns and floral motifs in a cartouche. Red cloth tie. Black varnished leather scabbard with two silver fittings, silver-plated metal chape (replaced at a later date).
Very good condition, except for the lower part of the scabbard which has undergone some restorations.
