GENDARMES OF THE KING'S MILITARY HOUSE SABER, model 1814, Restoration period. 34430
Gilt and chiseled bronze guard. Hilt with three branches forming a shell cast in relief of a coat of arms with three fleur-de-lis surmounted by the royal crown and framed by a branch of oak and a branch of laurel, all surmounting the sparkling Jupiter's thunderbolt. Pommel with a long molded tail in relief of foliage scrolls and corollas. Handle made of wood covered with filigree calf leather.
Straight blade with a single fuller (length 89 cm, width at the ricasso 3 cm, thickness 1 cm) engraved with military trophies and foliage colored in gold on a blued background on its first third. At its base, a cartouche is signed "Jaq. Spol md Cutler in Metz". Scarlet cloth tie (later addition).
Straight steel scabbard, without suspension rings, steel suspension rings and screw-on gilded brass chape engraved with foliage and attached to the scabbard by two side screws.

Very good condition, guard retaining its gilt, good condition of the bluing and gilding on the blade, slight folding of the counter-guard.
