FRENCH MILITARY SWORDS, SWORDS, AND DAGGER-BAYONETS
By Pierre Renoux and Christian Méry
Following the success of the book on French military socket bayonets published in 2017, Christian Méry and Pierre Renoux present in this new work the French sabers, bayonets, sword-bayonets, and dagger-bayonets from 1840 to the present day, including experimental models and prototypes. This study had never been conducted before, as it required extensive and in-depth research in archives as well as military establishments. Furthermore, these works were subject to authorizations that were at times difficult to obtain.
This 336-page book presents over 200 bayonets, including exceptional and extremely rare models sometimes produced in only a few copies. Approximately 900 color photos have been selected to illustrate this vast subject, accompanied by numerous exceptional period documents and unpublished construction plans. Some rare photographs taken during tests by the relevant services have allowed us to definitively identify many previously unknown models.
There is no doubt that collectors, weapons enthusiasts, or simply history buffs will find in this book original documentation that will undoubtedly remain unparalleled for a long time.
