Aigrette holder composed of a 6 cm diameter and 2.5 cm high brass relief olive depicting laurel leaves, a brass socket stamped with laurel leaves of 2.8 cm diameter, 3.5 cm high. From the socket emerges a 6 cm high white horsehair aigrette. White horsehair mane mounted on a leather sole, fixed to the skull by a brass screw, measures 80 cm long, white horsehair braid. Brass plume holder depicting laurel leaves (4.2 cm high, diameter 1.8 cm tapering slightly towards the base). Jugulars: each composed of a round rosette (4.9 cm diameter) in relief brass of a lion's head bordered by a prominent molding, chin strap in leather lined with black leather and covered with ten relief-stamped scales shaped like laurel leaves (the widest measuring 4 cm wide and the last 1.8 cm), chin strap length 18.5 cm. Interior leather liner cut into seven sections.
Total height of the helmet 36 cm. Reconstructed scarlet feather plume adorned with a gold officer's olive pom-pom of the dragon regiment.
Perfect condition.

CUIRASS of curved steel sheet, a flat band frames the two parts: breastplate and backplate, adorned with a series of brass rivets with hemispherical heads; collared and armholes bordered by a channel. Leather shoulder guards covered with large scales with brass rivets, each shoulder guard ends with a brass rectangular buttonhole plate decorated with oak leaves and a palmette. Complete breastplate and backplate with fastening hooks for the quilting. The breastplate is marked "38". Belt in strong white buffalo leather with brass buckle. Perfect condition.

QUILTED VEST FOR CUIRASS in two parts, one fastening to the breastplate and the other to the backplate of the cuirass. They are made of thick ecru canvas with scarlet wool piping and gold braid sewn along the outer edge. Both parts are dated "1861" and marked "118", at the bottom, a very rarely encountered marking is affixed "N° 1" (in the book "HUNDRED GUARDS FOR AN EMPEROR," the authors identify this marking as indicating the size of the cuirass; however, the cuirasses were all bespoke, and we have already handled several vests of different sizes all marked 1; we think this number may possibly mean: UNIFORM N° 1). Leather tabs covered with cloth are sewn around the perimeter of each piece and receive the original steel hooks for attaching to the cuirass (only 7 of the original 28 hooks are present).
Medium condition, the cloth and trimmings are dusty and oxidized, the leather tabs and steel hooks show wear with some missing and oxidation.

EPAULETTES in gold and scarlet passementerie, finished with two gilded brass ferret terminals embossed with crowned "N"s. Sky blue shoulder tab, marked "382". We include a pair of gold and scarlet passementerie epaulettes from the Third Republic period.
Good condition, the passementerie is oxidized, the gilding on the ferrets is intact.
