KING'S BODYGUARD SABER, Model 1816, Restoration. 34417
Gilt brass guard, with four branches forming a shell decorated with the arms of France under a royal crown and on a background of flags and branches of oak and laurel. Long-tailed pommel. Handle made of wood covered with silver filigree shagreen. Knucklebow stamped with the "B" under a star of the inspector Borson August 1814 - September 1816 from the Manufacture of Klingenthal and probably the stamp of Bick, 1st class controller 1815 - 1824, "B" under a star surrounded by a crown of rings.
Double-edged blade engraved with a trophy of arms, two fleur-de-lis, and the inscription "KING'S BODYGUARD" on one side, and on the other side with a trophy of arms, the arms of France, and a radiant sun with a face. Spine engraved with "Royal Manufacture of Klingenthal January 1815." It bears the stamps of the inspector Borson August 1814 - September 1816 of the Manufacture of Klingenthal and Bick, 1st class controller 1812 - May 1815, "B" within an oak leaf crown.
Length: 92.2 cm.
Steel scabbard with two steel suspension rings and a brass chape with molded foliage at the mouth of the scabbard.

Restoration period.
Good condition; the gilding on the guard has worn off, the shagreen and filigree on the handle are in perfect condition, the blade is in nearly new condition with very fine engravings and inscriptions, the scabbard is in good condition with some dents, screw of the chape replaced.
