MODEL 1874 REVOLVER FOR OFFICER, THIRD REPUBLIC.
Six-shot revolver, 11mm caliber, centerfire percussion. Made of steel with a general blued finish of nearly 100%, except for the hammer, trigger, loading gate, and cylinder pin which are yellowed.
The front part of the conical barrel features a front sight, the central part is octagonal, and the top is engraved with "Mle 1874." The right intermediate side features the front part of the ramrod. The cylinder has six chambers with grooves on the exterior surfaces symmetrically placed around a cylindrical channel where the cylinder axis is engaged. The trigger guard is made of iron with a pivot and pin. Engraved "Mre d'Armes St Étienne" on the frame, and marked by the Saint Étienne Arms Manufacture on the cylinder and frame. All screws are stamped with "U 84"; the barrel, frame, cylinder, trigger, hammer, and ramrod are marked with "N 24584"; the barrel is stamped "S 1879." Checkered walnut grip panels.
