Total length of the weapon 48.6 cm, caliber 16.7 mm.
Barrel of the 1717 and 1728 models, octagonal with rounded barleycorn finish, length 31 cm, with the top engraved "REG DE LHOPITAL DRAGONS," barrel length with the breech tang 36.8 cm. Lockplate as per the 1728 model. Walnut stock with a long barrel ending at the mouth of the barrel. Brass fittings. Mouthpiece shaped like a collar made of a brass sheet. Ramrod holder attached by pins. Counterplate fixed by two steel screws, one of which also serves as a belt hook (made of steel). Lower guard fixed in front by a pivot and pin and at the rear by two steel screws. Butt plate with ears fixed by tacks, cap with an oval concealing the attachment of the cap to the wood. Missing ramrod.

HISTORICAL: The regiment became the property of the Count de l'Hôpital in 1739, brother of the Marquis de Vitry, and in 1741, it went to Frankfurt and from there to Bohemia. It was in the combat of Sahai and the defense of Prague. In 1743, after a stay in Verdun, it joined the Alsace army and distinguished itself in the combat of Rheinweiller with the Colonel general regiment, and in the combats of Weissembourg and Augenheim in 1744. Half destroyed at Augenheim, it was sent to Brittany to rebuild itself while monitoring the coasts. Its main headquarters were in Quimper. In 1746, it defended Lorient against an English attack, and in 1747, after a station in Besançon, it went to the camp of Valence and from there to Italy, where it was involved in the defense of the River Gênes. In 1748, it was garrisoned in Carpentras, Digne, and Sisteron, and later, reunited in Neubrisach. It was seen in Nîmes in 1740, in Besançon in 1750, and in Belfort in 1753.
