Gilt bronze hilt, with a three-branch guard forming an openworked shell decorated with laurel branches, centered by a naval anchor resting on a bundle of flags. Pommel with a long tail decorated with a fleuron and laurel branches. Handle made of filigreed brass horn. Straight blade with gutters and hollow flares, bulging back edge, ribbed back, length 76.4 cm; back engraved with "Manufacture de Klingenthal Coulaux aîné & Cie." Red cloth tie. Black varnished leather scabbard with three gilt bronze fittings.
Very good state of preservation, partly faded gilding, slightly chipped leather scabbard with side seam occasionally unstitched.
