MODEL 1874 REVOLVER FOR OFFICER, Third Republic.
Six-shot revolver, 11mm caliber, centerfire percussion. Made of steel with a general blued finish of nearly 100%, except for the hammer, trigger, loading gate, and cylinder pin which are yellow tinted. The front part of the barrel is conical with a front sight, the middle part is octagonal, engraved with "Mle 1874" on the top flat. The ramrod is attached to the right side flat. The cylinder has six chambers with grooves on the outer surfaces symmetrically placed around a cylindrical channel where the cylinder axis engages. Iron cap ring with pivot and pin. The receiver is engraved with "Mre d'Armes St Étienne" and stamped by the Saint-Étienne Weapons Manufacture on the cylinder and receiver. Checkered walnut grips.
