MUSICIAN'S COLBACK OF LIGHT CAVALRY OR NATIONAL GUARD, Second Empire. 33705(9276-9277)
Framework in leather covered with bear fur, H 35 cm. Crown Ø 31 cm, covered with a scarlet wool flame braided with silver ending with a silver tassel with fringes in thick twisted cords called "épinard seeds" and a skirt in silver twisted frizz. Length of the flame 48 cm, H of the tassel 8.5 cm. Inner leather cap carved in wolf teeth. On the side of the framework, a pocket is made to hold the plume. Plume of cock feathers (apparent H of feathers 32 cm) mounted on a baleen fanon (H 39 cm). The feathers are in three colors: scarlet at the top, white in the middle, blue at the base. Tricolor wool pompon with red at the top and blue at the bottom (H 4 cm, diameter 3.5 cm).
Perfect condition, slight oxidation of the silver braid of the flame, the bear fur is intact which is extremely rare for a headdress of this type.
Transport box in cardboard covered with blue paper (H 50 cm, diameter 39.5 cm) with a matching lid.
Fairly good state of preservation, mainly wear and tear on the lid.
