NAVAL INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD, MODEL 1872, THIRD REPUBLIC.
Brass hilt, guard with three branches forming a shell decorated with a naval anchor placed on a bundle of flags against a backdrop of laurel branches. Cap with a long tail decorated with laurel branches, filigreed horn handle. Slightly curved blade with a hollow edge (length 80 cm), spine marked "Manufacture Nationale de Châtellerault April 1872 naval infantry officer model 1856." Blued steel scabbard with two suspension rings.
